There is a proper way to word an invitation and there are some etiquette standards that are expected to be followed. These handy tips will help you to make your invitation without any major blunders.

1. The first line of a wedding invitation is to tell the recipient who is hosting the wedding. This will be the person who is paying for the wedding.
2. The next line is where you actually extend the invitation, something along the lines of – Your presence is requested at the marriage of (insert name of bride and groom). That is one of the most traditional but there are many others that are acceptable.
3. The hosts address should be the return address on the outside of the envelope. On a formal occasion such as this names are not necessary on the envelope. This is the address that any guest who cannot attend will use to send gifts.
4. Traditionally the hosts name and address are preprinted on the RSVP cards. This generally encourages the recipient to respond in a timely manner. You can use another address if it is more convenient.
...
... 5. If children aren’t going to be allowed at the reception you can include a statement to that effect on the invitations. You can say any of the following:
On the response card add - Response needed on or before (insert date)
Number of adults:
Adults Only Reception (put this on the reception card)
On your wedding website note that the reception will be for adults only

Many brides are planning their own weddings and even going so far as to create their own invitations and RSVP response cards. One of the most daunting tasks at this point is figuring out what to say. A wedding requires a more formal speech pattern than other events. We have found a few examples and included them here:
