If you are looking at putting out your own CD or you have audio you want to clean up it is important to utilize audio mastering. There are many different aspects of audio mastering that you need to take advantage of, because these are all features that are going to make your audio sound that much better and take it to the next level. The truth of the matter is while you might have an excellent song or beat, without the proper mastering it is not going to sound all that great when compared to what else is out there. Presentation is exceptionally important in the world of music, so mastering your track is a must. Once the CD mastering has taken place you can take your music and shop it around. You just need to know what the CD mastering process does in order to improve your music.

Clean Up: For starters, it is going to clean up your audio track. This means it is going to remove any dead air that is heard over the microphone. Often times inferior microphones record the background noise, as it is reflected off of items in the room. This gives almost a slight hiss or even an echo on the recording. By cleaning up all of this ...
... and removing unwanted noise it is gong to give the track a better sounding recording.

Levels: The levels of your recording are also important. Many individuals record tracks with the same level, but this should not happen. Each audio input, whether it is a guitar, voice, bass or other background sound effect should have a different level and should be mixed differently. This is going to provide a much more dynamic sound to the mix and make sure the audio sounds that much cleaner. Other individuals try to push the bass up too high, because that is what they like in the sound system, but for a professional mix it might come off as overpowering and make it difficult to hear and understand lyrics. A professional is able to properly alter the levels and correct the sound.

Audio Attributes: Of course, different audio inputs are going to have different attributes and the mix needs to reflect this. It might sound better for the bass to pop and come out more while the treble needs to be pushed up as it is difficult to hear the high ends. Regardless of what it is, the professional mix helps protect the audio track.
