5 Common Skin Care Problems And Solutions
No matter what you are (or are not) wearing, your skin can be your best accessory. Smooth, supple and soft all over, at any age it can be a sign of health. But when it is neglected—or when you are not eating or exercising as you should—it can become inflamed, dry or prematurely wrinkled. Here, we look at how you can handle five of the most common skin problems.
ACNE
Acne is common disorder of the oil glands when overactive sebaceous (oil) glands secrete too much oil (sebum) in the skin. This is characterized by the recurring formation of blackheads, white heads, and pimples. Acne occurs primarily on the face and sometimes on the back, shoulders, cheat, and arms. The incidence of acne is greatest during puberty, adolescence, and when hormones influencing the secretion of oil glands are at their peak level of activity such as during stress, emotional problems, menstruation, menopause, and exercising.
Another cause of acne can be dirt, oil and dead skin, accumulated inside the pores, plugging the pores and preventing the flow of sebum. When bacteria build up, pimples can form and acne ...
... may develop, often as an indication of an internal toxin condition. Other causes or contributing factors include allergies, a poor diet, dehydration, environmental pollution, heredity, sun over exposure, and weaken immunity.
Tip: Follow a precise, daily skin - care program (Cleanse/Tone: Pore Clearing Cleanser and Pore-Purifying Astringent formulated with salicylic acid and essential oils such as tea tree, eucalyptus, sage, and/or extracts such as apple, green tea, willow bark, kaola, Echinacea and lavender to help dry blemishes fast without drying out skin, and with a weekly deep-pore facial scrub (Exfoliate: Camphor Pore Exfoliating Gel formulated with natural granules of corn cob meal and camphor to normalize oily complexions without drying, followed by a facial mask (Masque: Camphor Pore Minimizing Masque formulated with oat flour, camphor and sulphur to purify the skin while helping to reduce the appearance of large pores.
CROWS FEET
Fine lines or crows feet can add years to a person's age by making them look older than they really are. The tissue around the eye area has no oil glands of its own, rendering it more prone to dryness. Women of all ethnicities spend hundreds of dollars on under eye concealers as a solution to give the appearance of smooth, healthy skin around the eye area.
Tip: Keeping the eye area well lubricated at all times is the best defense to help reduce the appearance fine lines and wrinkles. For the delicate under eye area, Joy Lorraine Firming Peptide Eye Cream is formulated to deliver exceptionally softening, noticeably firming results that can be seen.
DARK CIRCLES AND PUFFINESS
The lack of sleep and stress can affect your looks, especially under the eyes. Getting enough sleep and a change in your life style can help to alleviate this under eye condition. A deficiency of Vitamin B-12 and Iron causes anemia, and is responsible for the most common form of dark circles and puffiness.
Tip: Avoid foods high in carbohydrates such as white bread, pastries, white flour products, and pasta dishes etc. All of these foods, when digested, release high levels of acid and carbon dioxide gas, making blood look darker than usual, and thus show through the fine skin below the eyes.
DRY SKIN
Dry skin condition is due to lack of water in cells and between cell layers. It is characterized by a lack of moisture caused by inadequate oil production of the sebaceous glands, and can be easily irritated.
After cleansing, skin can feel tight and uncomfortable, triggering surface lines and wrinkles. When exposed to sunlight, low humidity and extreme changes in water temperature, dry skin may become even drier. Other contributing factors can include poor diet, harsh detergents, and/or other chemicals which can disrupt skin's protective barrier causing rapid water loss.
Tip: Taking shorter baths and/or showers can help to alleviate many dry skin conditions. Using a humidifier can also help as it add moisture to the air to relieve the physical discomfort of dryness. Stay clear of using any kind of soap on your face because the use of soaps strips the skin of its natural oils. Opt for a rich, creamy facial cleanser (Moisture Protecting Cleansing Lotion) that is rich in natural oils of Kukui Nut and Jojoba, a must-have to protect skin's natural moisture barrier during cleansing). And for the body, use bath gels as an alternative to soaps.
Help reprogram your dry skin to retain moisture for immediate, long-lasting comfort by applying your moisturizer (Continuous Moisture Crème) immediately following cleansing (Moisture Protecting Cleansing Lotion) and toning (Visibly Moist Toner) while skin is still damp.
HYPERPIGMENTATION
The presence of hyperpigmentation caused by age spots, acne or trauma can be quite distressful on anyone in a society where beautiful skin reigns. In the case of trauma, your skin tries to protect itself by producing an overabundance of melanin resulting in an uneven skin tone. Tip: Successful treatment can be achieved with a consistent approach to treating the affected area over several weeks. Joy Lorraine Lightening Crème is formulated to reduce the level of melanin production in the skin by gradually diminishing hyperpigmentation. Consistent use will be worth the time invested for a clearer complexion. You can further help to alleviate the onset of new hyperpigmentation by wearing sunscreen daily that offers both UVA and UVB protection.
