Establishing Customer Relationships When Designing Website
Responsive website design is more than implementation of the website. Revolving more than a design or development problem, responsive design often proves to be handful. It sometimes becomes difficult to tackle. The following is the overtly simplified website design workflow. The first step is planning, designing, development and deployment.
Once the web designing cost has been fixed, it is time to move onto the planning of the website. This would cover the audits, requirements, user issues, wireframes and other likes. The second phase is the design wherein a myriad of activities is done including the graphical, layout design, static design visuals and much more. These are various components of the traditional visual designer. These are needed to experiment with the creative ideas and exchange the same in client sign-offs and deliver the subsequently chosen blueprint for the development phase. The development is likely the responsibility of front-end engineers. The next and the last phase is the deployment wherein multiple people tested and launched the solution. This is also known as the traditional waterfall development ...
... phase. The next method of workflow or in the agile development process, the process is more closely designed, developed, tested, redesigned, and refined.
Testing the responsive websites in multiple devices is often useful. However, do we really need to buy everything or just have the affinity to develop for these niche devices. There are is a difference between the device testing and design testing. The website designers need only to use a subset of devices. It is imperative to create an affinity to be able to develop a design that would work on any mobile device that we hold it in our hands. To just be clear, how does the menu feel on the mobile device is completely different from its ability to work on the particular model or make. This is the reason that the website designers do not need to buying different mobile devices.
For improved responsiveness, it is important that the businesses revamp certain aspects of the business. The clients need to restructure their buying process. It is imperative to move forward to a more responsive template from a static one. This would satisfy the needs of the clients. To be able to deliver a responsive experience, it is important for the design and development team to reorganize. It is true that visual designers need to learn the most as the Photoshop and Firework static visuals fail to provide what is needed from the following responsive approach.
Each designer wants to put forth the best work forward. What lacks to this development is the inability to communicate between the developers, designers and clients. The fettered interaction gave birth to frustrations, dissatisfaction and work that eventually failed to meet the expectations of everyone. Even for a website designer, once the web designing cost has been established, it is imperative to share the milestones achieved. It is also important to involve the customers in every step of the design. Even if it is a risky proposition, it is beneficial in the end. It is important to apprehend the fact that there are multiple aspects that these static designs fail to communicate and thereby create inherent misunderstandings. The static visuals do not do the following:
• Display web fonts or browser font rendering
• Demonstrate percentage based layouts seamlessly
• Demonstrate animations, transitions, and pseudo classes
• Display the browsers’ CSS capabilities.
This does not mean that designing in the browser is the ultimate thing. Firework can be used to create the atmosphere and to further enhance the design details. Blending in two, would add a polish to the prototype and make it more interactive. This helps in creation of an atmosphere.
So what is an atmosphere? People have been mixing different layouts and other aspects of the design. There are many times when the customer rejects the design simply because the layout is not the same. It is what is left when we would remove the layout from the design. What is left is known as the atmosphere and atmosphere helps in developing parts that cannot be explained otherwise. The static visuals are not only inefficient but they would set the wrong expectations in the minds of the clients. Other than this, most of the websites are fixed at a standard 960 pixels. Is this because the designer showed the client a 960 pixel static visual and spends hours explaining it? This is the reason that the best website development companies would implement HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
This article does not suggest not to work with Photoshop and Firework. However, it does suggest that the designed static visuals should be rich and contain all the necessary details. It is important not to set any wrong expectations. An interactive design using HTML, CSS and JavaScript can be shown to the designers. It is best to avoid all websites that appear as signed off artifacts.
One thing that all website designers would agree is that all customers love getting involved in the website design process. Sometimes it may not be necessary and sometimes the advice may not sound correct however, it would depend on the website designer to listen to them.
