Business Insurance Isn't One Size Fits All

It has been said that love makes the world go around. Although this is a very flowery and poetic sentiment, the person who coined this iconic phrase probably didn’t have a degree in international commerce because many people would argue that it is actually corporate business that makes the world go around. Any business owner who sees the “big picture” understands the value that both large and small businesses have in the grand scheme of how the world operates. That combined with the blood, sweat, and tears that those owners put into just getting their business off the ground, to say nothing of what goes into maintaining their enterprises, is enough to illustrate the value that these businesses have within the infrastructure of the world economy and, more poignantly, to the owners themselves. That being the case, the value of a business to its owner cannot be overstated and it behooves the owner to purchase some kind of liability insurance policy in Miami, specifically for his or her business.

... insurance companies exist for one fundamental reason – because they know that smart business owners know that they are needed. They are more than needed, since necessity implies that what they have to offer is optional, which of course it is in a very generic sense. However, with everything that can possibly go wrong within as well as without a business, some level of insurance in Miami is really just another cost that is assumed. A business without at least a rudimentary insurance policy is like a car without doors, a windshield, or brakes – it is riding on borrowed time.

But buying business insurance is not a one size fits all endeavor. Many business owners who want the best for their enterprise (and really what savvy entrepreneur worth his or her salt doesn’t?) will often go above and beyond the call of duty and spend far more money than is necessary on a policy that their provider’s representative recommends. After all, what insurance salesperson worth his or her salt won’t try to sell the most expensive policy to a potential client and do so without making it appear to be more than what they need? Most, if not all, will do that and many have become masters at it.

It is, of course, the responsibility of the owner to know his or her business inside and out, forward and backward, top to bottom. Arriving at a definitive, accurate, and comprehensive knowledge of what kind of coverage is necessary for their specific business is where a competent Miami insurance agent comes in. In a very real sense, the business owner almost has to become his own salesman before he speaks with an actual salesman because an integral part of knowing your business intimately is knowing the needs of your business. It should never be left to the insurance consultant or salesperson to be trusted to “do it all”. That certainly isn’t to say these people are not trustworthy, it is simply to say that a business owner should trust himself more.
