Who invented the first crackers and how?


The first cracker was made in 1792 by John Pearson in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Pearson was trying to make a type of biscuit that would last longer than the sailor’s biscuits. He called his invention “Pearson’s Pilot Bread”, which was was later known as “hardtack” or “sea biscuit”.
