Social dancing is a great activity which affects all aspects of a person's life. It is a very healthy social activity which is for all ages. Dance is of different types such as Ballroom, Salsa, Tango, Hustle and Swing. A regular social dancing incorporates all aspects of a person like, fitness, emotional health, fitness and mental health. Because of these benefits, there are even studios offering social dance to people of all age groups. Dancing is great boost to health for all, be it young or old. The importance of social dancing is realized everywhere.

Dance for emotional health: Dance requires high level of co-ordination of the whole body. In this way, the brain is involved. One rhythm could be to co-ordinate with your partner's body movements which you see and feel. There is leaning, following etc. which act as a stimulant for neurological pathways. There has been research regarding such body movements which suggest that there is much reduced stress in the body. There is more adrenaline in the blood and you feel high. There is more serotonin released in the body. This chemical is responsible for mood and feeling. You would feel upbeat while you dance. You would feel hugely improved in terms of emotional health, full of energy and highly motivated and eagerly waiting for the next session!


Dance makes you smarter: Dancing is a highly evolved exercise which affects all the body. You need to adjust with your partner, the music, song and the environment as a whole. It involves the all the muscles, bones, tissues etc. In short, it affects every single part and function of the body. There is high level of connectivity in the neurons of the brain as the brain has to strike cord between varied body parts and motions. There is exercise of the brain as it has to integrate continuous and varied acts of the body. This prepares the brain was higher cognitive function and betters performance. It helps cure Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Since the brain has to 'wire' differently than the 'daily' winding, it is beneficial.
