In the grand scheme of things, bottle openers seem like they are a pretty insignificant facet of life. That is until you have a bottle that absolutely refuses to open. And we have all been there - trying with what feels like every ounce of your physical strength to twist open a simple bottle of water or 2-liter bottle of soda. The energy exerted seem like it should be enough to drag a small car a few hundred feet so why oh why can’t it open a simple plastic water bottle? Even some of the “twist off” beer bottles can prove to be not so twist-off and require some kind of opening mechanism in order to get to those sudsy delicious contents inside. It can be such a challenge sometimes that one wonders if the makers of the product actually put any thought into the user-friendliness of the bottles they put their products in. That in turn then begs the question – do these people really want us to consume the drinks that they produce or are they only trying to get us to purchase it?

... one of those items that you really don’t think about needing until you need it. And it could be argued that there are as many different kinds of bottles that need opening as there are products that go into them. So ideally one would likely need to have a multitude of bottle openers on hand because honestly, who really is fully prepared to open any kind of bottle at any time. Often times the edge of a countertop can provide an effective makeshift bottle opener but this is rarely the best to get to the beverage you’re so eager to consume. Placing the edge of the bottle cap on the edge of the counter and slamming your fist down onto it tends to add unwanted “décor” to said countertop not to mention the sore fist that is likely going to be suffered by the person doing the opening.

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention and when it comes to bottle openers, the necessity is a single mechanism or contraption that will open a variety of bottled products and is compact and lightweight enough to be easily stored and used by even the feeblest of consumers. Often times it isn’t merely a muscle bound he-man having an off day who is unable to open a beverage bottle. Many times the elderly or those with physical afflictions like arthritis have a tremendous amount of trouble opening bottles and they need something that will make the job as easier. Bottle openers don’t have to be complicated or precision engineered in order to be effective. They just need to be able to open a lot of different kinds of bottles and do it with the least amount of effort by the user.
