The second generation of the new Volkswagen Sharan was introduced to the world in the Geneva Motor Show 2010, only a month before SEAT Alhambra. The all new Sharan by the Volkswagen has bunch of qualities and spirit to catch your mind and heart. The engine line-up has strong diesel engines to empower the Sharan. Diesels are popular among high mileage drivers and the better one in the diesel range is 2.0 TDi diesel engines with all new Blue Motion technology, it has a punch of 140bhp. The top diesel sprints from 0-62mph in just 12.2 seconds but it is in the gear pulling power that impresses most, making it ideal for the motorway cruising. It produces a rocking pull with torque of 236 lb-ft ...
... at 1750rpm that is enough to overtake any vehicle ahead on the road. The fuel injection system is an important reason for top-notch performance; it has common rail direct fuel injection system and gives the economy of 42mpg that is remarkable.
All new Blue Motion technology was introduced in 2008 for the 2.0 liter TDi engines to help them out with low emissions. The longer gear ratios, a lower ride height and reduced overall weight of the vehicle are the major players that play a vital role in low emissions along with the Blue Motion technology and reduce the CO2 emissions to 143g/km from the previous 177g/km mark and raise the economy bar further up to 49mpg from earlier of 38mpg, all refinements thanks to Blue Motion technology. The diesel engines really suit the Sharan due to their unique qualities and pulling power that coup better with the loads and weight of the car while they are amazingly economical and silent on the move.
The most powerful bunch is 2.0 liter as we described earlier, another fellow of the 2.0TDi (140bhp) is a 2.0TDi with 170bhp. It is also a four-cylinder motor with the with the pull of 258 lb-ft of torque on common rail, direct fuel injection system that gives the economy of 40mpg combined while the Blue Motion technology limits its emissions of CO2 on 152g/km. The 2.0TDi sprints the Sharan from0-62 in 9.5 seconds and can touch the top of 131mph. Like all Volkswagen models it is well-built and merely durable. The safety measures are up to the mark now with the six airbags and optional ESP stability control on all Sharan models where it’s not as standard. Deadlocks with the remote central locking and an alarm and immobilisers are standard fit security measures.
Initially the Sharan came with four trims of S, SE, Sport and Carat. The S models come with air conditioning, ABS, electric front windows, and twin front airbags while the SE edition has central locking system with the remote controller, luggage covers with the roof rails. Sport models come with the 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, sport seats and the sport suspension system. The carat get the climate control system, Alcantara and leather upholstery, heated seats and walnut trim while all S trims are equipped with the Blue Motion technology.
