The points can be earned only if you book tickets in the First Class AC, Second Class AC, AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. You have to pay a membership fee of Rs.500 on the first year and an annual renewal fee of Rs.300 thereafter. For every 100 rupees spent, you will get 4 points on express trains and 10 points on super-fast trains. On accumulation of 500 points, you can redeem them for free railway tickets. To avail this service you have to register on the website of IRCTC by providing all the details asked in the registration form.
When you book online, the payment is made through your credit card or debit card, and after it is done, the e-ticket is sent to you in your email address. You have to take a printout of it and carry it with you when you board the train, along with a valid photo ID proof.
You can also opt for i-ticket, which is a normal ticket that will be sent to you on the address you provide. It will reach you within one or two days. You cannot opt for i-ticket if you book your ticket under the Tatkal quota.
