Much has been said about the Mediterranean Diet Plan but thoroughly understanding it will help in appreciating what it is all about and how it works. Heart attack is the main cause of death in men while stroke is the cause in women. Eating food that contains saturated fat is very detrimental to the health because it raises the cholesterol and insulin levels in the body. This diet has also shown significant preventive signs to lung diseases, asthma, and many allergies.
The inclusion of wine in this diet proves to be just as important. It contains powerful antioxidants properties that keep the skin clean and radiant and the internal organs to function properly. Antioxidants also prevent the occurrence of certain types of cancers. The consumption of milk and other dairy products increases calcium intake which is good in keeping the bone mass especially in elderly people. Unlike other diet meals plans, the Mediterranean Diet Meal Plan is not a packaged meal. The dieter is given the freedom to select the food. But the food selection must contain fresh ingredients like fruits and vegetables.
