From a small village to a modern sub city, Garia has come a long way. After the infrastructural boom hit the area which saw rapid development of apartments and high rises, the locality never looked back. Sub Localities of Garia include, New Garia, Chak Garia, Garia Park, Baghajatin, Baishnabghata-Patauli, Techno City, Model Town, Ganguly Bagan, Tentulberia, East Tentulberia, Ramgarh, Briji, Kamalgazi, Mahamayatala, Boral, Sreenagar, Nayabad, Panchasayar, Balia and certain parts of New Ajaynagar. The southern end of the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass runs through the center of the region.

Property Prices
If we compare the property prices of Garia with the rest of the city they may seem high from certain areas, but if we compare its prices with posh areas of other Metros, the prices are very low. Despite of the locality being well developed and posh the property prices in Garia remain reasonable and within the reach of a middle class buyer.
Starting from Rs 2500 per square feet, the prices go up to Rs 6000 per square feet (January to April 2013), which is quite reasonable as far as the quality of houses and locality go. A decent well-furnished 3 bhk apartment in a decent multistory tower can cost around Rs 40 lakhs to Rs 60 lakhs. This despite an increase in the property prices in Garia.
Property Trends
The area is witnessing an increase in the property prices like never before. The rapid development of new apartments is adding fuel to the fire. The prices of multistory flats has gone up by 30 to 35 per cent by the end of this quarter (January to March 2013) and builder floors too are experiencing a spurt of around 7 to 10 per cent in their prices.
All this is boosted by an increased demand for houses and increased income levels of buyers to afford property in Garia. The rentals too have gone up by 8 to 10 per cent as fully furnished and well maintained 1 bhk flats are in great demand among young professionals working near Garia. The Metro railway has added a new feather in terms of communication, which connects Central & North Kolkata to save time & have a comfortable journey.
