• Get rid of mess: A cluttered home diverts potential buyers from the home’s attributes and also makes it appear that the house does not have sufficient storage space.
• Remove all personal items like family photos and refrigerator art as potential buyers need to imagine themselves in the home.
• Make sure you remove any odors if there are any. No one will like a home that smells badly. Remove any sink odors and get rid of any trash.
• Ensure that each room has a clear, single and definite purpose. Ensure that every space in each room has a function so that the buyer can see that every space is usable in the home. This comprises corners, nooks and others.
• It is not necessary that the buyer will like the wallpaper in your home. It is best to tear it and paint the walls as an alternative. And also paint with neutral and warm colors that will attract the buyer.
• Open all curtains while showing your home in order to take advantage of the home’s natural light. Add additional lighting where needed.
• Do not mess the room with a lot of furniture and ensure that the furniture is of the correct size for the rooms. Arrange the furniture in such a way that the room looks spacious.
• Use hardwood flooring if possible and ceramic tiles or stone for kitchens and bathrooms. If you have a carpet, make sure it is clean and stain free.
• If your home has cracks in the ceiling or walls, you have to fix them because it may signal foundation problems.
• The outer appearance of your home will make the first effect on the buyers. Make sure the lawn, plants and trees are neatly trimmed. Ensure that the footway directing to the house is clean. Also make sure the pool is clean if you have one.
• Before you show your house to buyers, last minute touches like fresh flowers, opening the doors to let in fresh air in the property earlier so that it is not stuffy will make a positive impact on the buyer.
