Men commonly use swimwear for water-based activities; such as, swimming, bathing, water polo, diving, and also for sun bathing. Few men also use swimwear as undergarments. In case of shopping; men do not have as many options as women. But they (men) have number of variety in case of styles and cuts. The styles of mens swimwear depend upon fashion and standers of community modesty; personal likeness also matters.
FEW TYPES OF MENS SWIMWEAR:
Here are few types of mens swimwear:
1. TRUNKS SWIMWEAR: Trunk swimwear is one of the oldest types of swimwear. It usually made with nylon, polyester or blend of both. It is a comfortable and loose fitting swimwear; fall from till mid thigh. It is equally popular among youngsters and kids. In markets; trunks swimwear are available in solid and funky colors.
2. SWIMMING BRIEFS: Swim briefs are also known as “speedos” due to their history. In 1956; Australia introduced swim briefs by speedo. Different brands have introduced new styles of swim briefs with the changing of time and fashion.
3. SHORTS: Youngsters, kids and adult men often wear board shorts; ...
... not only for swimming but also for sun bathing and boating. One can easily get different styles of board shorts in markets. Board shorts are made with waist band and do not have elastic waist; like many trunks. You can get solid and funky colors in shorts too.
4. SQUARE LEGGED SWIMWEAR: Square legged swimwear is somewhat similar to swim trunks. It is very comfortable in wearing. Usually kids like to wear square leg swimwear; not only for swimming but also for playing other games. It is very much similar to boxers’ underwear.
5. JAMMERS: Jammers are also the very famous type of swimwear. Competitive swimmers wear jammers. It resembles to cycle riders’ shorts. Jammer swimwear looks very stylish as well as comfortable.
6. MONOKINI: Monokini is one piece swimwear like traditional swimwear. It is very common mens swimwear. But it is not comfortable for the average guy. Monokini is also very popular among women.
7. FUNDOSHI: This famous style of underwear introduced by Japanese. Sometimes; competitive swimmers wear fundoshi.
8. THONGS: Thongs are popular among adult men; they wear thongs for decreasing lower body coverage.
9. SKIN BODY SWIMWEAR: Competitive swimmers wear skin body swimwear. It is equally popular among men and women. It is made with elastic which hold the body tightly. Skin body gives protection to swimmers from warm weather.
11. DRAG SUIT: Competitive swimmers wear drag suits during training; which provide them extra resistance from water. Mostly men wear drag suits for a long time.
12. KNEESKIN: Knee-skin is a famous type of mens swimwear. It is as older as trunk swimwear. It covers till knees. Competitive athletes commonly wear knee-skin; not only for swimming but also for other games. Knee-skin resembles to ‘body-skin’ and also to ‘shorts.’ 13. LEGSKIN: Leg skin swimwear holds the body tightly. In water; leg skin swimwear increases speed and decreases the resistance of water. Leg-skin swimwear is worn by male athletes only.
