A pastor is the spiritual leader over a group of people or congregation. He furthers the work of the church while leading others into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A pastor can practice within a specific concentration, such as working with children, overseeing a ministry or serving as a senior pastor. He follows the particular demands his denomination or church tradition requires, including those of character, experience and educational requirements. Pastors can be full-time, part-time, bi-vocational or a volunteer.

HISTORY:

Around 400 AD, Saint Augustine, a prominent Roman bishop, described a pastor's job:

Disturbers are to be rebuked, the low-spirited to be encouraged, the infirm to be supported, objectors confuted, the treacherous guarded against, the unskilled taught, the lazy aroused, the contentious restrained, the haughty repressed, litigants pacified, the poor relieved, the oppressed liberated, the good approved, the evil borne with, and all are to be loved.

Here, most of pastors came in churches to serve the lord and his people.

Tasks and functions by a pastor in church:

Practitioner of the marks (preaching, administering the ordinances)
Teaching
Meet with staff
Be disciplined and stick to a workable schedule
Graze – feed the flock
Guide – direct, model, equip, and keep the flock
Guard – from false teachers and false teaching
preaching, prayer, personal discipleship relationships, and patience

The age is the important factor for Pastor jobs but this not only depend on your age it also considered hobbies, interests and aims. Also the mistakes are done by churches while advertising pastor job. Every church should have some rules and regulation for choosing their new candidates, should be proper voting for choosing the best pastor. By this every pastor get chance to speak their thoughts. Candidate should not feel hesitation in sending his resume to every church. Churches normally have a leadership structure pastors work with to identify and nurture the core goals of the worshippers. A pastor have right to choose his assistants.

Some reasons why people do not want to be a pastors:

1) Marriage or family problems

2) Salary

3) Criticize

4) Fear of failure

5) Angry

6) Burnout

7) Loneliness

8) discouragement

Churches typically have a leadership structure pastors work with to identify and nurture the core goals of the congregation. If your church has a team of elders or a group of spiritually mature members, you will be able to work with them in understanding and articulating what that vision is.
