For leading a healthy life it is necessary to keep watch not only on exercise but eating habits too. You are what you eat and your eating habits reflect your health. For being healthy you need to keep your heart healthy too. Apart from avoiding oily and spicy food, there are some foods, which if you include in your daily diet will benefit your heart.
Red wine- Benefits of red wine are well known. It is full of anti-oxidants, can increase level of good cholesterol, hence helping in making heart healthy. But it is necessary to take red wine in appropriate amount otherwise it can have adverse effects too. Flaxseed- Flaxseed is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, phytoestrogens, which are good for heart. Flaxseeds lowers the risk of blood clots, stroke, and cardiac arrhythmias and it even keeps blood pressure and bad cholesterol in check. Omega-3 fatty acid increase good HDL levels, lower triglyceride levels, protect arteries from plaque buildup, are anti-inflammatory, and lower blood pressure.

Tea- Tea is rich in Flavonoids like polyphenol, these anti-oxidants protect blood vessels, lower blood pressure, reduce LDL "bad" cholesterol.
Similar to them, there are many foods which are good for heart like, tuna, tofu, papaya, blueberries, melons, brown rice, whole grains, soy milk, spinach, broccoli, sweet potato, red bell peppers, orange, asparagus, tomatoes, kidney beans, oatmeal, salmon and the list can just go on. Apart from intake of these foods, you must improve your eating habits too. Control your portion size by keeping track of how much you eat. Instead of eating too much at one time, try to eat little 4-5 times.
This will increase metabolism of your body and eventually help in shedding those extra kilos. Try to include whole grains in your diet like whole wheat flour, whole grain pasta instead of refined flour. Whole grains are good sources of fiber and other nutrients that play a role in regulating blood pressure and heart health. To reduce your blood cholesterol and lower your risk of coronary artery disease, limit your intake of Trans-fats and saturated fats. Use olive oil, canola oil and trans-fat free margarine instead of butter, coconut palm, and cottonseed oil. By following these simple rules you can have a healthy pumping heart.
