There are two types of certification for the Microsoft Partner Competency. The Microsoft Certified Partner and the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. However, in November of 2010 the names were changed respectively to Silver Competency and Gold Competency. From their names alone, one can distinguish the level of competency. One can then choose and tailor the competency to fit your type of business.
Getting a competency is not just the process of enrolling and passing the exams. Microsoft will first make sure if your personnel to be trained are qualified through qualifying exams and assessments. This will make sure that the personnel have the necessary skills to easily learn and understand the courses to be offered. If found qualified, the personnel will be trained for a period of 3 months.
