In India, since 18th century when banks establishment started to now there are innumerous numbers of banks. Different banks are categorized into different sectors. Some banks are working on the private sector level; some are on public sector level. There are some more which are being operated on foreign banking purposes and at the very next, nationalized banks in India.

The key purposes of any banks are like accepting deposits, granting of loans and advances. These services actually fall under primary functions of banks. The secondary functions of banks are like offering financial support to agencies, e.g. utility functions, then, granting different kinds of loans, viz. educational loans, home loans, job loans, car loans and etc. Now, as an add-on to banking services some private sector banks have started offering loans at lower interest rate. So, like these nowadays, banks are coming up with many beneficial options for their valuable customers.

Other than these, nationalized banks in India are growing in numbers also, day by day. To name some, State bank of Tranvancore, Sate Bank of Indore, Sate Bank of Saurashtra, State bank of Patiala and some more. Nationalized banks’ core functions to provide quality and best services to its customers and let the be established financially. Besides, these banks are financing some small scale industries also, so that in future it can be useful to the economic growth in India.

At the beginning, there were only 14 banks working simultaneously, it got into the figure 21 in 1980 and that was very fastest growth in the numbers of banks in India.

In regards to nationalized banks, these banks are being operated along with 53, 000 branches and providing around 18, 000 ATMs crossways of India.

In India, all the nationalized banks are availing immense supremacy over private sector banks. They have got authority to watch over all the private banks and their functions. Nationalized banks are solely meant for boosting up the financial and economical status of India and help it grow faster in coming days. Because, as their main target is to finance the rural India, so, when rural India is wealthy, it means the entire India is free from foreign debt.
