Designing your home's exterior is just as important as the interior design. Improving your home's curb appeal adds a certain pride of ownership, creates good first impressions, and adds value to your home if you are looking to sell your property to potential buyers. You may have an expensive and well-designed interior but the exterior will always make the first impression. Here are some of the exterior aspects of your home you can improve on.

Wall Cladding

In the initial phases of constructing your home or during the process of making repairs or refurbishments, wall cladding is one of the main things to consider. Wall cladding systems are exterior wall systems that do not only act as a decorative element but a protective layer or covering as well. It protects the home from harsh weather conditions. It may also be used to improve the wall insulation of a home.

There are many types of materials for wall cladding systems from metal with copper, aluminum and other metal finish to timber and composite materials. Masonry is also a popular option used for wall cladding. The choice of material and finish is crucial ...

Decking

A patio, deck, porch, balcony or verandah would add value to any home. Extending interior comfort and style to outdoor spaces gives your home another dimension and level of style and comfort. If you have an existing deck, keeping it clean and in tip-top shape would maintain the lovely appearance of your home's outdoor space. You can also replace old hardware like balustrades, rails, and steps, and add good choices of outdoor furniture to enhance the exterior design. Keep in mind that decks need regular upkeep to maintain its good condition.

Landscape

A well-tended garden, hedge, or landscape will always look lovely in any property. But it does take a lot of maintenance, time, and energy to create and maintain a landscape. You can add lovely rock retaining walls, and a bit of color through a variety of plants in asymmetrical arrangement. Choose plants that can thrive well in the usual weather and climate in your area.

Also, the goal here is to achieve something low maintenance and energy efficient, and it would be more manageable and low cost at the same time. The investment in good landscape, however costly it may be, would definitely increase the value of your home significantly.

Outdoor Lighting

Amplify your home's curb appeal with outdoor lighting. Aside from being essential in providing security and safety, it adds aesthetic value and wonderful ambiance to your outdoor space. Make sure you choose low-voltage, energy-efficient lighting that serves both functional and decorative purpose. If you have extra budget, install solar lighting for more energy efficiency and lower energy consumption.

Doors and Entryways

Doors and entryways are like your home's face. To give a good impression, it must have a positive and well-kept appearance. You can replace old doors and hardware with new ones that can add personality and character to your home. You can easily achieve that with a colored door or a beautiful wooden finish. You can also add lighting fixtures like sconces or sidelights and front-door accents.

There are so many ways you can improve your home's curb appeal and outdoor space but one thing is clear, you will have to spend a considerable amount of money to keep the exterior looking fine and well maintained.
