Quite frankly, I never gave a lot of considered my ropes before my experience with Bluewater's prized line. I just knew they were all UIAA approved and survived about a time or two. But with an approaching climbing trip which was going to span upon the continent of Asia, I knew that I would have do some careful study on the area. I was going to need a rope that would be incredibly tough to be able to withstand rigorous abuse in nearly every atmosphere while being lightweight and streamlined enough to not fill my entire bunch. My string would need to suffer ice (and sometimes poor ice tool placements), extreme salty atmosphere, coarse sand, high humidity, TR'ing over razor-sharp limestone ledges, monkey strikes and sizzling desert heat.

There was a reason that seven of my colleagues at Seattle REI's climbing store all possessed the same string: the Whitening Pro simply simple rocks. My pal Paul Lebel had simply prodealed his new job rope and was itching to trap it to a route. Of course, I was more than happy to grant him in the endeavor. Right away from the package I found that it already had that flexible, broken-in ...
... feel that typically takes at least several weeks of value to obtain. Upon first flaking, there were no bothersome coils that one normally encounters with a brand new wire. Every climber knows that a rope with poor knotability is a rope that will get you swear like a truck driver each time you untie a knot or attempt to stuff it by means of a tight belay device.

After an occasional ice course in the Adirondacks and a light cragging season in-the Pacific Northwest, I crammed the string and headed off on the Asian excursion.

Additional qualities that switched me onto the piece of equipment: The amazingly visible bi-pattern weave in the rope's sheath ensures you may always find your center mark. There's no printer or recording that'll inevitably wear off with routine use. It's really a double dry rope. Meaning the remedy is put on every individual fiber within the center and sheath. Not only does this maintain the rope clean and dry, it dramatically increases abrasion resistance -- increasing the life span of the rope considerably. It is American produced. Given our current market, likely a good time to buy local.

Pretty rugged year fast forward one, I am still the owner of a quite incredible rope. No visible core shots or dead spots to mention regardless of the dynamic whippers it endured. It is still preserving it's unbelievable knotability and the dry remedy is nevertheless going robust. Although it seems and seems great, due to it is wealthy and complete life, it may be closing in on a retirement date. But I have to say this 9.7 is a true workhorse. The majority of the 'burly' 10.2's that I possessed in days gone by would not have even made it out of India, never mind seven nations. Naturally my next rope may be another Lightning Pro.
