Finally, at long last the public at large will share in something comic book fans have been enjoying for decades. With the release of the Watchmen movie, the greatest graphic novel of all time has hit our screens, and those unfamiliar with the characters and their story won't know what has hit them. Zack Snyder appears to have helmed the most faithful comic book movie in history, and while the ending is different, the elements that made Watchmen so special in the first place are all present and correct.

After two decades of being passed around various studios, having various directors and actors attached, and more speculation than almost any other film, the Watchmen movie is here at last, and is drawing almost as much praise as the graphic novel that inspired it.

Many people who are unfamiliar with the graphic novel have asked fans what Watchmen is about. This is something in a league all of its own. This is Watchmen.

It is the most dense, well written and literary example of the comic book genre that has ever been released. Written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons, it is the ultimate piece of comics storytelling, and now it is also the ultimate comic book movie. After twenty years, the supposedly ‘unfilmable' epic has finally come to our screens, and a new generation is watching the Watchmen, alongside the fans that knew how great it was all along.

Director Zack Snyder assembled a cast of actors that were perfect for the characters rather than offering star power, and in doing so has brought a new batch of hugely talented actors to the attention of millions. With incredible production values, a manic eye for detail, and an intelligent, adult themed plot and script, the Watchmen film has brought to life the legendary graphic novel with style, grace, power and respect.
