There's no one reason why you can't learn to play a musical instrument as an adult. Instead there are hundreds of them. From kids to money to Psych marathons on television there are a number of reasons why you haven't learned yet. Really though it comes down to time and money. Of course you'll need the instrument. That requires money. Then you'll need instruction. That takes more money and time. Then you need time to practice. That takes a lot of time.
