Window treatments can bring about a sea-change in the look of any room in your house. They can also bring about a change in the atmosphere that a room projects. Window dressings that have been designed carefully and tastefully not only add dimension to the room, but also bring all the other elements in the room, together. If you are too busy to give the entire room a makeover and still feel that it needs a new look, window arrangements are a logical and simple choice.

A range of options
You can use these with silk flower arrangements to bring about a dramatic change in the look and ambience of any room. There are a variety of window treatments that you can use for that change you need:

Draperies and tapestries- These add an opulent air to the space. If you prefer a brighter room, use light colored and thinner fabric. On the other hand, if you want a richer look, use thicker fabric that has more elaborate designs. Heavy fabrics such as velvet, damask or tapestry can be used. You can have pleated draperies that either slide or hook onto a rod so that they can be closed or opened. They can be either unlined ...
... or lined and can insulate the room against extreme temperatures.

Curtains- They are a similar to draperies but are generally made from lightweight materials. They can be layered and fit the frame of the window. In some cases stationary curtains are used while in others the sliding variety is used. In most cases they have tabs at the top end through which the curtain rod can be inserted. They are attached to the rod with either rings or clips. In some cases they are tied down to the rod with tie tabs or ribbons. Draperies are a little different. They generally hang right from the top of the window and reach the floor. Curtains on the other hand can be either window length or floor length. They may cover only half the window height or could be tiered over the open area of the window.

Blinds and shades- Blinds can be either horizontal or vertical and are made of durable materials such as aluminum or wood and the size of the slat can be custom-made. Vertical blinds are ideal for sliding or French windows. These are very functional and versatile window treatments and look good in any room. They are suitable for doors and windows and are available in an assortment of styles and materials. Shades are generally made of soft plastic or fabric and can be either decorative or plain. They are generally pull-down and are attached to a spring-loaded rod at the top of the window.

Most window treatments can be paired with each other to give the right look to the room. Valances, cornices and shutters can also be used. Wood and bamboo are materials that are very popular and you can achieve either a classic, contemporary, rustic or chic look with these treatments. Adding tasteful flower arrangements to the room will give it the instant lift it needs.
