When choosing bathroom towel rails there are two factors that will determine your choice. These are the fuel system used to do the heating and the second factor is the material and the design of the unit. Both these factors are important in determining what the right fit for you will be, against your budget and the interior design of your bathroom, amongst other considerations.

Heating Systems

There are three main ways that these rails are powered, by the central heating system, by electricity and lastly by a dual system that combines the two. A plumbed rail is connected to the heating system of the house. It will require some level of knowledge of the plumbing in your house, but you can still do It yourself. The main advantage of this system is that it is much cheaper than its electrical and dual system equivalent and some people would prefer using the central heating system than using electricity.

The problem with these towel rails for compact bathrooms is that they can be tricky to install. Unlike the electrical one, you will have ...
... to find a spot that is easy to install and at the same time be at the right spot you wanted to have the equipment. This can sometimes be a difficult balance to strike.

Electrical System

The other type is the electrical rail that heats up a fluid which in turn heats up the towel and bathroom. The advantage with this type of rail is that it is easy to install. You only need to locate a socket and you can start using it. This makes it easy to use in a bathroom that would be hard to install a plumbing system. Even though it is more expensive, it is cheaper to install and has fewer parts that could break down.

Dual System Rail

The third type of towel rails for bathrooms is the dual system rail. It uses both the electrical system and the central heating to provide heating. The advantage of this system is that you can continue using it when either the central heating is not functioning, or when the electrical system is not working.

Besides looking at the fuel system, the materials will also determine your choice. The main types of rails are steel and chrome heated towel rails. Steel is cheaper and quite durable, but chrome is more stylish and will last even longer. Choosing either depends on your budget and probably the style you want for your bathroom.
