5 Local Dishes You Must Try In Rajasthan
Rajasthan is counted amongst the top holiday and honeymoon destinations in India. Its top cities like Jaipur and Jodhpur have literally taken the world by storm with the montage of picturesque lakes and indomitable fortresses which they have to showcase. And for a food lover too, there are special dishes on the platter. Here is a quick hungry look at some of the local dishes you must try in Rajasthan:
Dal Batti Churma: Dal Batti Churma is one of the most lip-smacking things you can ever put inside your mouth. Made of Dal and churma (which is a highly sugar-rich stuff full of ghee and flour), this dish is local to this state. However, the popularity of the dish is so high that it has made headlines all over the country and is often prepared by housewives in several Indian cities. You can dig into this dish at all the tourist places in Jaipur or Jodhpur. The local dhabas in Sindhi Camp are renowned for serving them best and at really friendly prices.
Ghewar: Ghewar is a sweet item which is made using mawa and ghee. Jodhpur tourism takes special pride in serving the best ghewars in the country. It is very delicious ...
... and is hard to resist. However, you must stay away from it if you are a diabetic. Johri Bazaar’s LMB is the best eatery where one can sink into ghewars. The Rawat Sweets shop is another favorite destination by tourists.
Mawa Kachori: Mawa Kachori is so sumptuous that it simply seems to melt in the mouth. However, it is not a syrupy liquid but a food which can fill your bellies early in the morning. It is the most popular dish for breakfasts and all major tourist places in Jaipur won’t let you go without letting you savor its delights. Johri Bazaar again scores in this context and houses the best eateries serving the most finger-licking kachoris. The Rawat Sweets deserve a special mention. Kanji Sweets in the vicinity is another contender for the title of the best place to eat Mawa Kachori in Rajasthan!
Murgh-e-subz: If you are a carnivore i.e. non-veg and love chickens, then this cuisine from Jaisalmer should be on the top of your wish list. It is a satisfying meal for a heavy lunch or a burp-raising dinner. It is also indigenous to the state and is a favorite by many travelers.
Mirchi Bada: If you wish to take a bite of Jodhpur tourism, then do take a bite of Mirchi Bada, a special snack which is spicy and friendly. It is more like a roadside snack and should be best eaten in those street stalls and small eateries.
