MCDBA –Microsoft Certified Database Administrator is a Certification that approves your abilities to design, deploy, troubleshoot, Implement, and Manage Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Databases. This Certification was retired in September 2012 but if you already have the Certification before the retirement date, it will still appear on your transcript as a legacy Certification.
MCDBA has now been transformed into two different certifications, these are ; Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert- MCSE – Data platform, and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert-MCSE –Business Intelligence. MCSE –Data platform is Certification recommended for individuals who design enterprise scale data solutions on-premises, or in the clouds, while the MCSE – Business Intelligence is a Certification for individuals who develop and deploy Business Intelligence solutions for their organizations. ... models through the use of Transact-SQL. Individuals who have obtained a Certification in MCDBA must be able to manage and maintain Databases, Configure and manage Database Security and must be able to configure and Install Microsoft SQL server of different versions.
The Certification for MDBA requires that you pass at least an exam in the following categories;
• Microsoft SQL Server Administration,
•SQL Server Design,
•Microsoft Windows 2000 Sever or Windows Server 2003, and one elective exam.
The Exam recommended for Microsoft SQL Server Administration will be able to test your knowledge on the deployment, Installation, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. The exam number for this is -70-228. Though this exam has been retired but if you have already passed it will apply towards the MSDBA certification. An alternative to this exam is ; Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 – this exam is also retired but if you have already passed it , you can also apply it towards the MSDBA certification- the exam for this certification is 70-029.
For the SQL Server design exam, you are required to choose between Microsoft exam 70-229 and 70-029. For Windows 2000 server or Windows 2003 Server, you will be required to pass either 70-290, 70-291, or 70- 215 exam. There are numerous elective exams to choose from as well.
