Isle of Wight is one of the renowned tourist attractions in the United Kingdom. Not only this, it is the largest island of the country. If you want to spend some quality time with your friends and family, this can be one of the best options. This article will tell you about the features and attractions of Isle of Wight.

The Isle of Wight is a small island to the south of Britain. It is located almost five miles off to England's southern shoreline. The island is easily accessible using multiple sea routes from the English mainland cities of Southampton and Portsmouth. Alternatively, you can travel there by air from the mainland as the Isle has two airfields. Travel by sea is better as the routes are scenic and the distances to and fro are short.

Furthermore, the island offers fossil hunting tours along the cliffs, owing to the island being world renowned for dinosaur fossils. You can also see stone age burial grounds not found anywhere else.

For those more interested in lounging; this island has beautiful sand white beaches. With thirteen beaches all of which are in pristine conditions and offer clear blue waters you can swim, surf, or go diving in this is truly a paradise island. Along the coast there are several pleasure piers; these are raised structures constructed above the water surface that offer vistas of endless ocean beauty and fun activities. Allowing tourists to promenade along the sea and offering amusement stalls and theatres, these are a must see. Alum Bay offers view of an interesting beach that has sand of different colours. You can get a souvenir of a glass paperweight filled with the multicoloured sand particles. The bay can be accessed by a chairlift system which is in itself an interesting experience. If you want to spend holidays Isle of Wight is one of the best destinations in the United Kingdom.

Visit the Blackgang Chine which is one of the oldest amusement parks in the entire world. This theme park is bizarre and has animated figures that are worth a look. You should also make a point of visiting Steephill Cove which is only accessible by foot and has a restaurant that offers freshly caught seafood. The Isle is also famous for the Festivals held there and you should try to fit these into your tour plans; the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival, the Isle of Wight Bestival which is a four day music festival, The Isle of Wight Festival whose tradition dates back to the 70s and once played host to the largest rock concert held in England. There are also regattas held annually for the sailing enthusiasts.
