A Brief Note About Pinhole Glasses
The principle behind pinhole glasses has been known for many years. One of the earliest uses for the principle was the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was a room which was totally dark, in which one wall or window had a pinhole in it. An image of whatever was on the outside was projected on the opposite wall, the image was inverted. It worked well only in daylight as it restricted light greatly. Pinhole eyeglasses on the other hand have multiple pinholes and therefore allow more light to pass.
Because they restrict light they act as sunglasses and pinhole glasses also have the advantage of being lightweight which would also make them easy on the skin of the nose. Another advantage pinhole glasses have is if they get scratched they will not block vision and of course ...
... breakage, except for the frames, is out of the question.
From a distance pinhole glasses also present the appearance of everyday sunglasses and only on close examination do they reveal themselves to be otherwise. It is unclear if they block UV Rays however (if they do not) the amount allowed to pass is probably minimal as the area which lets light pass is much less than standard glasses. A word of caution: one should never look directly at the sun or use them to watch a solar eclipse.
Only recently has the technology been able to produce pinhole glasses. Using LASER Technology and precise measurements, pinhole glasses have been made possible. The word "Glasses" however is a misnomer as there is no glass in pinhole glasses. They are metal or plastic sheets which are pierced to create a matrix of holes which form the viewing area for the glasses.
Most people are able to see more clearly using pinhole glasses to do everyday things, such as watch TV, reading things from a distance and a number of other functions which need glasses. Because light is somewhat restricted when reading or doing close work be sure to have sufficient lighting at hand.
Your eyes are important and you need to care for them, pinhole glasses may be an aid to help your eyes relax and make life just a little simpler. The technology behind pinhole glasses has been in use for hundreds of years, but only recently have people been turning to this amazing solution as an alternative to cumbersome and costly prescription glasses or contacts for nearsightedness and farsightedness.
Mike has been writing and publishing articles about health products. He recently came across a website on pinhole glasses which gave information about this old technique of using pinhole glasses for eyesight correction. Mike himself had tried the product and found it quite beneficial. Here's an article about pinhole glasses.
