In addition, the patient feels sleepy throughout the day and has poor functioning of the motor sensory nerves resulting in poor judgment while driving. In fact, a sleep apnea patient can fall asleep during the day at the drop of a hat, making them dangerous car drivers. The moment they fall asleep, they can risk many a lives!
Using Cpap machines is one of the most successful ways to get rid of this condition. Cpap stands for continuous positive airway pressure and it induces air at a pressure, clearing the airway and thus enabling air to reach till the lungs. As a result, a patient can get sound sleep during the night and he can get up afresh the following morning.
Using a Cpap machine is troublesome at the start. First of all, the fact that it is to be worn over the nose makes you feel uncomfortable. It can cause inconvenience to strap something onto your nose and sleep like that throughout the night. Secondly, the mild noise generated when the machine starts working can cause some disturbance while sleeping. That’s why one must consult a doctor and seek tips to get used to a Cpap Equipment.
One can try to wear the Cpap mask half an hour prior to sleeping and try to get used to it. You can probably read a book for half an hour while the mask is on, so that over a course of a few weeks or months, you will get used to it.
