Integration Of Quantum Lto 5 Backup System Improves Security And Accelerates Data Storage Operations
Finding an ideal candidate for backing up data can prove to be a very demanding and challenging task. There is a wide variety of products in the markets and that should make the choice of the product easier, unfortunately, it doesn’t. The more the products in the market the more confusing the decision becomes. The reason why this choice is difficult because all products apparently seem the same, that is, they all are offering the same type of features.
Any product that seems to be offering something more of value is priced very highly. The high price of course does not bother large scale businesses enjoying economies of scale but certainly affects small and medium sized businesses. However, the irony of the situation is such that even though large scale businesses are willing to pay more they are still unable to get a satisfactory product that perfectly meets the needs of the business.
One reason why large scale businesses may experience the above stated problem is that they have not been introduced to Quantum LTO5 tape. This tape is the fifth generation of the most successful backup technology known as Linear ...
... Tape Open technology. The creators of this backup technology were Hewlett-Packard, IBM and Seagate therefore this is indeed the best backup technology that exists. The fifth generation of this lto5 tape was launched in 2010 and from that time onwards it is one of the fastest selling products.
Quantum LTO5 tape outperforms its competition in performing basic features such as storage capacity and processing speed. The storage capacity for raw data is as high as 1.5 Terabytes, but if for some large scale data intensive even this is not enough they may make use of 2:1 compression rate and extend the storage capacity to 3 Terabytes. It comes as no surprise that the processing speed of the tape is 140 Megabytes per second, after all, it has compliment the high storage capacity.
Quantum LTO5 tape had a lot of buzz and hype associated to it and the business community was anxiously awaiting its launch. One of the most important reasons for this anxiety was the introduction of the partition feature. This lto5 tape would be the first medium of backup technology that would allow businesses to divide it into two halves. To most large scale businesses it was a very useful and appealing feature.
Other than this Quantum LTO5 tape also went out of its way to provide security to back up data. Most businesses were experiencing the problem of data theft and exploitation and since the goal of Linear tape Open technology is to add value to the businesses it incorporated additional security features such WORM ( Write Once Read Many) and Encryption. Encryption would allow businesses to encode their data which could only be decoded by official personnel with authorization. WORM on the other ensured authenticity of data by eliminating the option of editing data or allowing any other changes after the data has been entered once.
