Why would an environmentally friendly group attack an investment? It might be understandable if the commodity is responsible for heinous crimes against humanity. However, palm essential oil is by any objective standard probably the most environmentally friendly of all oilseeds in production!

Hand oil is grown on 0.23% from the world’s agricultural lands and yet accounts for the bulk of global edible oil production, a staggering 30%! But could this higher yield be the actual reason for palm essential oil to be targeted by detractors? Could these types of detractors benefit from the curtailment of palm oil exports?

However, there was a sneaky mistrust that that was the case, no definitive evidence had ever surfaced from the netherworld of the subterfuge that was suspected but could never be proved. According to Libertiamo, millions of Euros were paid by the EC to a diverse group of environmental businesses such as the Rainforest Motion Network to act as surrogates to launch spurious anti-palm essential oil campaigns ostensibly to help improve environmental methods in the developing world where palm oil is largely planted. In reality however, noted Libertiamo, these campaigns were designed to support the EU’s own indigenous edible oilseed industries such as rapeseed and sunflower oil.

That which was particularly galling is that Libertiamo noticed that the EC is aware that most of the anti-palm oil campaigns are based on “manufactured” and fake evidence!

For instance, RAN had to sheepishly remove from their website their wild allegation which palm oil cultivation would lead to the annihilation of the orangutan by This year. The EC is certainly culpable for devising this particular devious scheme to tar residue palm oil with emotive but patently incorrect charges of huge deforestation and orangutan extermination. However, for the green groups like RAN to sell out just to augment the greenery of the pockets is the peak of infamy.

The popular news media too needs to take a major piece of the blame for they blindly regurgitate the half truths and falsehoods on hand oil contained in the regular press releases of these green groups without doing any due diligence to verify the truth of their claims all in the name associated with apply some cream to slave their own green conscience!
