Save the rainforests or just another convenient scam for these green groups to take your money to improve the greenery of their own pockets?

The target are usually those who carry enough concern about the planet compare unique car features. These scams typically understand to you via email, online survey or deceptive website. Often, crooks will make an attempt to persuade you into contributing to the prevention of global warming, preservation of the rain forest or any other environmental issues. To further complicate matters, you typically will have no way of understanding where your contribution actually went.

However, it is when patently popular environmental groups get into campaigns that run against the grain of all reasoning and legitimacy that alarm bellsshould truly be ringing!

For instance, the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) has made it something of a career to operate anti-palm oil campaigns which defies the laws and regulations of logic. The campaigns in and of itself is truly baffling and puzzling for palm oil is environmentally speaking, probably the most sustainable ...
... of oilseed crops!

After all, 11% from the earth’s surface is used for agriculture and hand oil only accounts for 0.23% of that. The commodity is so hyper yielding that with such a minute planting impact, palm oil materials 30% of the world’s edible essential oil needs. If a contending oilseed like soy had been planted instead of palm oil, 10 times much more land would have to be cleared as palm oil with its present yield of 4-5 measurement tons per hectare already exceeds soy by a multiple of 10! In fact, best in class plantations are already producing 8 metric tons and current R&D points to a potential yield of 20 measurement tons per hectare! In comparison, rapeseed yields a modest 0.69 measurement tons per hectare, sunflower a meager 0.33 and soy the miniscule 0.37 metric tons for each hectare! More devastatingly, these hand oil competitors have reached their maximum genetic potential whilst hand oil is just beginning!

Yet, this has not stopped RAN through alleging that palm oil is responsible for this kind of massive deforestation that in Ze Asia alone, the same as 300 football fields are deforested every hour for palm essential oil plantations, a claim that's been exposed as a substantial distortion of facts by the FAO’s recent "State of the Forests 2011" report which observes that whilst rates of deforestation in between 1990-2000 were high at a time of significant development in SE Asia, the trend had reversed dramatically between 2000-2010. Deforestation rates during this second option period "more than cut in half, making the NGO statements of rampant growth entirely false!Inch

Why, RAN needed to sheepishly remove from their website their own wild allegation that palm oil farming would lead to the extinction of the orangutan by 2011. The trouble was that 2011 came along and the orang utan population in the wild has grown instead of going extinct whenever new tribes of more than Two thousand wild apes were found within the East Kalimantan province associated with Indonesia, as reported by Nationwide Geographic (see: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/04/090413-new-orangutans.html code). With roughly Fifty,000 orangutans thought to stay in the wild, the new find could add 5 percent to the world’s recognized orangutan numbers, said Erik Meijaard, older ecologist for the Nature Conservancy within Indonesia.

However, along with Libertiamo’s expose, I’m no longer puzzled. The EU offers competing edible oilseed sectors which are hapless in facing the market onslaught from palm oil. The EC would like to protect them, but because of WTO rules, the EC’s hands are tied.

And so the plan was hatched by the EC to use eco-friendly groups like RAN to carry out anti-palm oil strategies using spurious reasons such as deforestation to try to steer clear of the palm oil juggernaut! The saddest part is the fact that, according to Libertiamo, the EC is fully cognizant of the fact that most of these campaigns are based on “manufactured” and false evidence! THE END
