As the Indian Premiere League sixth edition moves on in full throttle, let’s take a few minutes to go through some interesting statistics and facts about the Indian premier Leagues of the past.

• The maximum number of wickets in a season was taken by Lasith Malinga, with 28 wickets in 16 games.

• The fastest century in terms of balls alone was claimed by Shane Warne.

• The eighty three wickets taken by R.P. Singh over a span of sixty seven Indian Premier League games account for the highest number of wickets by any bowler.

• Chennai Super King’s total of two hundred and forty six runs for five wickets tht they scored against Rajasthan Royals in the 2010 edition, is the highest since the beginning of Ipl.

• Whereas as per Royal Challengers Bangalore news, the lowest total has to be Rajasthan Royal’s fifty eight that they took against R C B in 2009.

• A total tally of three thousand and eighty four ‘sixes’ and eight thousand five hundred and fifty one ‘fours’ have been hit over the course of the I P L.

• The total tally of wickets taken by all bowlers ...
... combined would amount to an astounding three thousand seven hundred and seventy eight wickets.

• Suresh Raina of India alone has scored two thousand two hundred and fifty four runs, which is the highest score by a batsman in I p l.

• Suresh Raina has also achieved the difficult task of crossing four hundred runs in an I P L tourney a record five times.

• In a single edition of I P L, Chris Gayle raked up seven hundred and thirty three runs which is the highest ever taken in a single edition.

• Chris Gayle has won ‘Man of the match’ title six times during the 2011 edition.

• But the highest number of ‘Man of the match’ titles won by a player would be eleven. The record was taken by Yusuf Pathan in I P L. An important notch in the IPL news happens to be this little nugget of information.

• Royal Challengers Bangalore won seven matches in a row during the 2011 edition, which is considered nothing short of a miracle.

• The seven ducks dismissed by Shane Warne in I P L happens to be the highest by any batsman.
