Each and every business has two dimensions of operations, those that are mandatory operations and those that are optional. When speaking of mandatory operations, these are operations that the business cannot do without. If any business has the goal of surviving in the industry and outperform the competition then it must have these mandatory operations in place. An addition to the mandatory aspects of the business has been the Information Technology department. The importance of IT department became more evident when most business shifted their operations from manual handling to computers. Of course computers made easy the operations of the business, everything became a lot more convenient and quick but it also generated a whole new set of independent problems. These problems generate the need for a separate IT department that would be devoted solely to fulfilling the computing needs of the business.

One of the first issues that needed immediate attention was a system of backing up data. Since all the business operations started taking place on computers, there was no need to maintain a manual record. The advantage with ...
... manual records was that the chances of disaster were close to minimal, sure, some business would experience disasters like fire, flood or theft but it wasn’t regular or routine. Computer on the other hand were more frequently exposed to threats and disaster, of course the nature of these threats was very different. Computers very frequently became victims of viruses which destroyed the business data. As a result, businesses would end up losing all their precious data.

There were three names in the Information technology industry, IBM, Seagate and Hewlett-Packard that recognized this problem and joined forces to create a revolutionary system of backing up data. This new system was called Linear Tape Open technology and the idea behind its development was to provide businesses with a reliable backup system. Till date several variations of the product have been launched catering the needs of all sorts of business, be it a small scale, medium scale or large scale business. LTO technology is one of a kind that understands that backup needs for each kind of business are very different and need to be catered with separate products.

HP LTO5 tape is medium that is specific to medium scale businesses. The storage capacity of this backup tape cartridge is 1.5 Terabytes and the processing speed is as high as 140 Megabytes’ per second. For some large scale business, particularly, those that are operating on an international level even 1.5 TB of storage space is not sufficient, these businesses can make use of the compression feature and enjoy 3 TB of storage space. HP LTO5 tape is also one of the few products in the market that is priced at a very economical level that is because it is a product of HP and HP is known for providing value to customer’s purchases. Once HP LTO5 tape is installed in your office, only then will you realize how effectively it is enhancing the productivity of your business.
