Apart from the Sport Bike and the Naked Bike every other type of motorcycle has a motorcycle luggage installed on its rear by default. This design is a challenge to some riders whose bikes are in the Sport Bike and Naked Bike category and require installation of a motorcycle luggage to ferry or carry.

If you have this challenge and your preference in
motorcycle luggage
is a saddle bag, there is an easy “do it yourself “step by step approach of installing the saddle bag that you can easily and safely follow:
But before you go ahead and start strapping, there are precautionary measures that you need to put in place including:
• Turning off your motorcycle before the installation process.
• Evaluate where you want to place your saddle bag and make sure it will not interfere with your ability to ride the motorcycle.
• The straps of the saddle bag should be installed away from parts that are hot or near a moving part.
• Make sure your saddle bag is safely attached to the motorcycle, all pockets are closed ...
... and straps are secure.

The installation process
Join the straps of the left saddle bag to the right saddle bag: This leaves ample space in between for the bags to rest on the bike’s rear.
The front of your saddle bag should be secured by attaching the front straps: This is done by wrapping the strap around a section of the motorcycle frame that is far from parts that are hot- this is while the safety buckle is unfastened. By joining the male end of the strap to the female on the saddle bag the buckle slack should remain loose on the strap. Repeat this procedure with the other saddle bag.

The back of the saddle bags should also be secured by attaching the back straps: Pass each strap under your bike’s fender and rear lights and clip the male end of the buckles into the female end of the other saddle bag on the opposing side.

Adjust the length of the straps at the buckle to tightly secure both bags.
Re tighten the grip of the straps joining the left and right saddle bag and tighten any loose ends so that the straps can lie in a flat position.
Saddle bag Accessories
1. The Strap Keepers
It secures any extra dangling strap that would interfere with you while riding. They also help to retain
the clean look of the strap.

2. The Storm Shield
You can attach your saddle bags with detachable storm out shields in your zippered pockets. They provide extra protection from weather. To rid them off mildew, dry the storm shields effectively.
And for an overall clean up of your saddle bags, use a soft brush, warm water and dry air. Soap should not be used as it can damage the protective coatings on the fabric.
