A leak concerning the current video competition by Alenver Inc underwear has caused a rush on video submissions and an increased communication flow about the event. In an effort to promote their innovative collection of underwear, Alenver has created a video competition where amateur directors and actors can showcase their skills in a three-minute video that dares you to wear Alenver underwear anywhere. Somehow this information was leaked prior to launching time and Alenver has been forced to speed up its competition launch and rules specification in response to this and in anticipation of the competition's deadline.

The recipients at Alenver have already been receiving creative, humorous, risqué and clever videos while the announcement has been in the works. Creative videographers must submit their video featuring Alenver's underwear collection prior to the 11:59 pm April 30th 2009 deadline for the competition entitled: "I Dare You to Wear Alenver Anywhere." Videos will then be posted on YouTube from the time of their submission, for a period of two months. Winners are determined solely through public participation ...
... as the submission receiving the most viewers and "hits" will be announced the winner. This competition is open to contestants from around the world since the submissions are accepted on our webpage. The only limit for contestants is that they must feature men's and/or women's Alenver underwear which is currently available in Europe, the United States, parts of Latin America and of course worldwide through internet purchases at www.alenver.com. Alenver's collection utilizes unique colors and metallic gold and silver to print motivating messages on the wide elastic of underwear and bras. The colors and designs look like jewels - allowing the wearer to make a fashion statement with their display peeking out from jeans or low back tops. The surprise of the messages is that they are reversed - allowing the wearer only, to see the true message in the mirror. This concept has taken underwear to a new level as underwear accessory.

Despite the early submissions, each entry has the same "air time" on the YouTube vehicle for display. Two months exactly will be allocated for each entry posted on the site. Early submissions will not have a greater opportunity for more viewers than later submissions - which may have been the hope of the technologically savvy and enterprising videographer or the intent of the leak.

There have always been leaks of political, financial, and social information since time began. The difference in current times, is that news moves more quickly to more people at exponentially increasing proportions through electronic communication. Politically, in a 2003 Online News hour with Jim Lehrer, Richard Norton Smith, director of the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum made the point that as far back as "President Washington's administration, Hamilton leaked against Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson leaked against Alexander Hamilton. When Jefferson became president, he said the only thing in newspapers that he read for the accuracy was the advertisements." Additionally, in the 1950's and early 1960's, President Eisenhower was known for leaking information to a top New York Times journalist in the capacity of a high ranked official in order to get out information that he may not necessarily have wanted to be quoted in saying directly. Finally, perhaps the most famous political leaks were those of "Deep Throat" that led to the Watergate story and revelations, and the ultimate fall of President Nixon in the 1960's. Financially, media leaks in the recent banking crisis pushed action by the federal powers that be. In September of this year, Washington Mutual Inc. was revealed as a struggling mortgage lender. This information leaked by the media fueled customer anxiety and resulted in the US FDIC finding a buyer for the bank. Although the information leaked was bad for Washington Mutual, the result for customers was beneficial as a complete WaMu failure would have been drastic for them. Socially, the numbers of leaks regarding movie storylines, celebrity weddings, surprise pregnancies and scandalous accusations are a weekly occurrence. Some are strategically made by the stars' own camps to advance their own star power, while others are offensively made by the media or the public to deflate that same star power.

Alenver's competition leak is not damaging to any party, nor does it disadvantage any party as all entries will be posted with a level playing field of equivalent air-time. In a world of negative news and damaging "spin", one could argue what harm, if any, could there be for early news of a fun video competition that amuses, impresses or informs the viewer. Couldn't we all stand to set aside a little time for creativity and dare ourselves to wear Alenver underwear anywhere?
