Skiing At The Largest Ski Resort – Perisher

Skiing is undoubtedly a thrilling activity. People who usually go for skiing once cannot get enough of it and plan their next outing really soon. Just imagine then, what would it be like, to experience this activity at the largest skiing resort in the Southern hemisphere! We’re talking about the Perisher Ski Resort situated in the Snowy Mountains. Composed of 4 villages, this ski resort offers avenues for skiing to everyone, right from beginners to advanced skiing goers since the runs are divided accordingly. While 22% of the runs are for beginners, 60% are meant for intermediates with the remaining ones being for advanced.
How to get there?
If you are coming from Sydney, Perisher is just a 5-6 hour drive. If you leave early in the morning, you will be well around here by noon. While entering the snow-ice risk area, all vehicle owners are expected to mandatorily carry fitting chains. If you’ve planned to first experience the Ski Jindabyne resort, then you can reach this valley in barely half an ...
... hour. Just for your reference, it can be tough driving in snowy conditions. If there are any faults in your vehicle, how much ever minor, you are advised to fix them before coming else they can be aggravated in such conditions, causing you problems.
There are a lot of buses and trains that come to this destination. A quick Google search will throw up various results and you can check the prices by entering your source of travel such as Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne etc.
A few first timer tips
• Booking Accommodation: If you are planning to enjoy skiing for a couple of days, you will need to make arrangements for accommodation. Since this place remains full of tourists during the peak season, the only way out is to book hotels in advance. You have a choice of opting for on-snow resorts here in the valley or off-snow resorts in the nearby area of Jindabyne. If you are a budget traveler looking for just a simple place to stay, off-snow resorts in Jindabyne are preferable.
• Training: For first timers, it is important to train and learn a few tips about how to use the equipment properly, how to manage body weight, what to do in case of problems etc. Perisher offers a Beginners package offering you insights about skiing as well as snowboarding. Only specialized instructors are allowed to conduct these programs.
• Don’t stress: It is important to not push yourself too much if you are a first timer. You might suffer from medical problems if you try doing way too much in a new environment. Remember; don’t worry if you even have to give up early. Your body is more important. Make sure you try skiing at night. The experience of skiing under the twinkling stars is an opportunity of a lifetime.
