It is great to have progress in many areas of our lives. There are so many things from the past that have given way to newer and better. For example, now you don’t need to worry about fixing dinner, you can just swing through the nearest drive up window and pick it up. Before you only had 3 channels to choose from, now you can have hundreds. Doctor’s used to make house calls and now you can fight traffic, other sick people, their time schedule to receive care.

As with most things we are finding that the old ways actually were better. That drive up meal isn’t made with the love and freshness that we make get when the meal is made at home. Those hundreds of channels really have nothing more valuable or entertaining than the 3 channels had, they just give us more reasons to procrastinate what we should be doing. Having in home care services really makes much more sense as well.

When you don’t feel well, especially if it is bad enough to go see a doctor, then the best place for you to be is at home. There are many benefits to staying home. You don’t spread your sickness to anyone else. If it is your child ...
... who is sick then you don’t have to bring all 5 of your little ones along. You can meet with the home doctor and receive his undivided attention, without feeling like he doesn’t have time for you because he has a full waiting room.

The world we live in is highly mobile. Another benefit that comes from having available home care services is that often you need medical care when you are out of town. Having a licensed home doctor that will come to your hotel room and treat you is far preferable to having to go to an emergency room. It not only saves you money, it saves the stress and problems of having to find a doctor and then find his office, not to mention the waiting when you get there.

The definition of progress is “to move forward.” I think that real progress has come in the medical field by taking a step back and realizing that better quality, cheaper and more efficient medical care comes from returning to a house call form of medicine. Not only is this home health care good for the patient it is good for the medical profession as well. It gives them a chance to render care and service to individuals in a more relaxed environment at a less-frenzied pace. What once was a necessity has now become a form of progress that many are happy to revert to.
