Paneled office furniture can be found in nearly any commercial office building that employs people with common desk jobs. These furniture systems are modular, constructed as a system of parts, panel by panel, and transcend most industry borders fulfilling the various and unique business demands of receptionists, sales and service people, telemarketers, teams of workers, and the managers and senior managers of entire offices.

There are many factors that have made paneled office furniture popular for deployment in the workplace. The modern-day cubicle is somewhat different than Propsts' Action Office. Although the design is similar- generally private desk areas designed in general U-shape surrounding workers with panels on three sides; a common layout chosen by business managers resulting in collapsible areas within the panel of the individual worker in order to maximize the number of offices that can be fit within a given space on each floor.

Cubicles are often criticized on the account that they've made it easier for business owners to maximize the amount of workers in a given space, and at a lower cost, due to the flexible modular design. It is hard to deny, however, the improvements have been made in this respect from the days before the Action Office, when heavily employed, strapped-for-space businesses would simply pack in flat tables with no shelving or partitions into rows leaving little room in between them in order to maximize human resources.

Although paneled office systems are most commonly seen in offices and workspaces, they are not limited to just cubicles.
