Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) composed primarily for the piano during the Romantic era. Though he played in the large concerts, but he felt better at home in private settings, enjoying the social ambiance that accompanied concerts for the wealthy. Along with this he enjoyed teaching because it caused him less stress than performing. Chopin got inspired to write many sad musical pieces for expressing his grief towards Poland after hearing the news of the war. His revolutionary “Chopin Etude” is the most popular one that he wrote during that period. Due to his poor health and homesickness, Chopin found solace in summer visits to the country. There he wrote his most complex yet harmonic creations.
Chopin retired to Scotland with friends. He was far beyond the reach of the revolution but still he sank deeper into a depression. His health did not rejuvenate and he returned to Paris. He died at the age of 39 and buried in Paris. His last wish was that the Polish soil in the silver goblet be sprinkled over his grave. He was a great composer and pianist.
