People must eat food in order to stay alive. But, is survival all you really want out of your meals? However, what's better than eating a delicious new food is to cook a delicious new food. Here are a couple tips to help take your cooking expertise to a whole new level.

If burgers get stuck to the grill, it will be difficult to flip them without mangling them in the process. Try brushing the grill using vegetable oil prior to cooking so you can avoid sticking.

Do not overfill the pan when sauteing foods. Just add a little bit. The excess moisture can steam the food versus sauteing, minimizing the chances that you will get that crispness you want. Remember, sauteing is always done at low temperatures.

If you want to rid your fridge of leftover vegetables and meats the night before grocery shopping, mix them up in a wok with fried rice. Day old rice serves as the best method for fried rice, but you could also make fresh rice so long as you use a little less water. Fry your vegetables and meat in some oil. Once you've done this, add rice and any seasoning you want with garlic, ginger, soy sauce and other spices.

When ...
... baking crust for pie or tarts, leave them in the oven to bake a little longer than you planned. Pastry crust should be baked to a golden caramel color rather than a pale blond shade. That deeper color shows that the sugar has caramelized. This creates a crisp crust, which is also sweeter.

Cooking processes that take quite a bit of time, like boiling, may allow nutrients to leach from the vegetables. Keep them healthy by choosing fast methods of cooking such as steaming or sauteing, or better yet, learn to love them raw.

Dry ground meat with a towel before you put it in the pan to remove excess moisture. One smart move in the kitchen is to remove the moisture from ground meats. Leaving the moisture there will cause it to release when you cook it. This can change the way that your favorite steak cooks. This prevents the meat from searing as you intended; it will steam instead.

Find fresher ways to prepare meals with oysters. The most common way to eat oysters is to not cook them at all and sprinkle a bit of lemon juice on them, but there's no need to stick to that formula. Put opened oysters in their shells on a broiler pan, and cover with a little cream. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and pepper over them and allow them to broil until they begin to bubble. Another tasty method is to take the oysters and saute them. To saute oysters, dredge oysters through seasoned flour and place in a pan of hot butter and fry for a couple of minutes until golden brown. Do not remove oysters from their shells for baking. You place them in a casserole type dish, place a dollop of butter along with fresh breadcrumbs on top of each oyster, then bake them four or five minutes at 425 degrees. When you see the juices and butter bubbling, serve immediately with toasted baguettes.

Learning how to cook can be just as exciting as eating. Try out a few of the tips provided here and you'll be on your way to enjoying your cooking experience even more. Improving your culinary prowess will cause others to beg for your home-cooked snacks at every get-together.
