My Blackberry vibrated in my pocket and I quietly slipped it out to see who was after me. An urgent alert flashed across my screen stating my flight was delayed. Sighing, I slouched down in the backseat of the cab. Overanxious to get my ski weekend started, I had left for the airport unreasonably early. Leaning forward to tell the cab driver to turn around, my Blackberry signaled once again. Another message from WorldMate (I love this stuff!), this time including welcoming information that another flight was taking off in 40 minutes.
Planning this ski weekend for several months, I had considered several locations for my final destination. Park City, Utah having some of the finest snow on earth, hovered at the top of my list. I also leaned towards Telluride, Colorado, which was one of my new favorite ski spots. Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where each time I went I wanted to settle down permanently. Stowe, Vermont, a picture perfect town with reasonably good skiing for the eastern U.S., almost made the cut. The ski destination I did settle on though had something that drew me in.authenticity. Sun Valley, Idaho had ...
... stood the test of time. I could go skiing and take in breathtaking scenery, simultaneously.
Standing in Sun Valley were two majestic mountains, Baldy and Dollar. Both mountains had impeccable trails in which any skier would feel at home. Sun Valley wasn't full of glamour or glitz. It had a raw feeling to it though and was filled with authentic, rustic charm. I was anxious to settle into my room at The Lodge and traveled a bit faster than usual in my rental car. Thanks to WorldMate, directions to The Lodge were already sent to my Blackberry. As I arrived and hauled my ski gear through the old wood doors, I knew I had chosen the right place. The décor was effortless, yet intriguing. Everything seemed as if it was meant to be there. The staff was open and friendly, which made me feel right at home. My check-in was downright simple, thanks again to WorldMate.
Hitting the powder later that day was quite refreshing. Only a faithful skier would realize how great the snow was here. I mentally made a goal to visit Sun Valley again before the warm weather hit. My trip was problem free and liberating. WorldMate's travel software had done the hard work, so all I had to do was ski!
