Holidays Costa Brava: Things To Do
The Wild Coast is a dream-destination for any tourist– there's just so much to see and do here and some must-do/must-see things and places in Costa Brava are:
Kiddie Fun: Give your kids the holiday of a life-time in Costa Brava. The entire stretch of coastline is dotted with theme parks, water and aqua parks, water-sports, outdoor activities, riding, nature parks, leisure and entertainment centers, diving, excursions, nature parks and for the older ones, there are art and history museums and galleries, ancient monuments, son et lumiere shows at many medieval fortresses, etc. If you have the time, a quick trip to Barcelona would mean an unforgettable visit to Camp Nou for a tour of the FC Museum and Stadium.
Beaches: It goes without saying that Costa Brava is synonymous with world-class beaches. With more than 100 Blue Flag beaches scattered along the Mediterranean, you're really spoiled for choice. Golf: Costa Brava is a very popular golfing-destination, with many world-class courses located here. Many legs of the European tour, the PGA etc are held in Girona and other wonderful, scenic course along the coast. The Pals Golf Club, Peralada Club, Club d'Golf d'Oro etc are some of the spectacular courses here.
Foodie Alert: The Mediterranean coast, with an abundance of sea-food, blended with the rich local produce, wines, meats, cheeses, herbs and spices, is indeed a gastronomic delight. Light, fresh and very healthy, this cuisine is also a symbol of the life-style of the locals, their traditions and culture. The special desserts and salads are not to be missed. The mountainous regions have their own unique dishes, with an abundance of meats, beans, fruit and preserves.
Art, Culture, History: This coast is a wonderful melting-pot of cultures, blending European, Arab, Moorish, Mediterranean etc. Palamos Harbor was the gateway to this part of Spain. Figueres is another important place here – the birthplace of Salvador Dali. St Pere de Rodes and the Bay of Roses are other notable locations. Girona has art, archeology, history museums, the Cathedral, the Toy Museum in Figueres, historic mansions, Moorish Tower etc are other great attractions here.
Costa Brava is a never-ending source of delight and with some planning, try to take in as much as time permits.
