The Two Hottest Trends In The Construction Industry
Two things I have noticed that are trendy right now - anything related to RTA cabinets and anything involving bamboo. RTA kitchen cabinets and RTA bathroom vanities are fast becoming the cabinets of choice because of a few good reasons. With Bamboo being a renewable and sustainable natural material, it is at the forefront of the Green movement, and it is being using in everything from flooring, to furniture, and even cabinets.
First, the RTA kitchen cabinet and the RTA bathroom vanity; RTA products are simple to assemble, are of a good quality, and relatively inexpensive when compared to the traditional assembled cabinet. The assembly is extremely easy. Stay away from RTA kitchen cabinets at places like IKEA. These stores will show you a nice display, but when you take the product home and try to put it together, you find yourself in a sea of hundreds of cheap pieces. Your frustration will mount and you will be turned off by the RTA idea. Instead, look online for RTA kitchen cabinets. You will find better quality cabinets, better prices, and more importantly a simple product that is easy to assemble.
As ...
... for the quality, the better RTA products are NOT made of particle board. Again be careful of places like Home Depot. These stores sell inferior products that look great, but are made of low quality particle board. Once these cabinets absorb water, they are structurally compromised and they begin to break down. Instead, insist on solid wood faced cabinets with paneled wood sides. If the RTA kitchen cabinet or RTA bathroom vanity does not have paneled sides, move on to the next RTA website. Also keep in mind, a place like Lowe's will try to up-sell you to paneled wood sided cabinets. The good RTA cabinets will have this feature as a standard part of their quality cabinet.
Finally when buying RTA cabinets remember that these cabinets are popular right now because the price is affordable; you do not need to waste money on assembled cabinets. You can put these cabinets together yourself and save about thirty percent over assembled cabinets.
The second trend that is growing in popularity is the use of bamboo. Bamboo has a long history of economic and cultural significance, but has recently come into fashion as a sustainable product. Even for those of you who refuse to recycle, you can get into bamboo and make a difference. It is very tough to convert to recycling, people have fought it for years, but bamboo makes this transition a little easier. You can still refuse to recycle that soda can, but if you buy bamboo products, you are probably saving a tree.
Bamboo's environmental benefits mostly come from its ability to re-grow very quickly. This means bamboo furniture that you might be buying or that bamboo flooring can be re-grown in a matter of a few years - as opposed to regular wood that takes over twenty years to re-grow.
In the end, knowing that there are now environmentally friendly products out there for you to choose and also cost friendly products --should make your next home improvement project more enjoyable on your self and your wallet. Take these ideas with you and start shopping for these products.
