The Adventure Of A Lifetime? If It's Not, It's Very Close To It - Book Your South Africa Safari Toda
Holidays are subjective things and where you end up booking to go to largely depends on what you enjoy doing in your spare time. Do you prefer to lounge by the pool in the sun or go off and experience new things? If you lean more towards the exploring side and you fancy yourself as a David Attenborough, safaris are the holidays for you.
Whether you've been on safari before or not, you can't deny that there are few things more exciting than sleeping in a (heavily protected) camp in the heart of the African savannah having been out all day observing lions, elephants, giraffes and various types of wildebeest and gazelle in their natural habitats. With environmental issues as well as poaching (which is still rife despite the continent's efforts to prevent it and catch the perpetrators) continuing to affect the wildlife population across Africa, the state of the savannah is changing constantly and may be greatly diminished by the time you get around to booking, so there's no time to waste.
Safaris are available in multiple African countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. The animals you'll be able ...
... to see and the facilities and prices will obviously vary greatly from organisation to organisation, but it's important to remember that the companies behind the safaris want to educate you about these animals and Africa and ultimately provide the best experience possible. To this end, you'll be taken through the bush by experienced and knowledgeable native guides who know just where to take you depending on the time of day and where you are. The camps are usually located in National Parks where animals are allowed to live freely and sleeping arrangements usually consist of cabins or rooms made out of natural materials but featuring all the comforts of home, including showers!
At a Zambia safari, a typical day will begin an early (so early it'll still be dark) breakfast around a campfire where you can discuss any exciting events or noises heard during the night before a three or four hour safari either on foot or by jeep. After lunch you can relax in the shade of your cabin or in a hide overlooking a watering hole (if your camp has one) for a couple of hours before another safari in the late afternoon when the temperature drops to a comfortable level. The company running your safari holiday may have a number of camps located close together so that you can move around and experience different parts of the savannah as and when you feel like moving on.
If all the animal-watching gets a bit too much and you decide that you do want the relaxing beach holiday after all, you can easily combine the two as long as you choose a safari destination in a country that has a coast. A Kenya or South Africa safari is ideal for this kind of holiday combination. Why not do a week of one and a week of the other? Logistically, you may find this slightly harder to organise, but you can always enlist the help of a travel company that specialises in organising safari holidays to give you a hand. David Attenborough for a week, beach bum for another - it's a match only Africa in all its exotic diversity can provide!
