Exhausted with your monotonous life, when you think you have saved up just enough for a holiday break, you know this, right now, is the best time to visit Goa. The list of places to visit in Goa is infinite - sprawling shimmering beaches, swaying palms groves, age-old churches and glistening waters but South Goa is a different experience altogether – much more pristine than the rest of Goa owing to minimal development in the region – South Goa with its sparsely populated beaches and tropical spice plantations makes for a very interesting stop! An elaborate Goanmeal in the middle of lush green nature in a tropical spice farm with the world famous Kaju fenny serves not only as just a gastronomic delight but also as a visual and sensual delight!

A few of the best places to visit in Goa for food are:
Martin’s Corner
Built entirely of bamboo and wood and with lots of indoor potted plants, this restaurant in Betalbatim has been running full houses since a long time! The lighting is amazing, giving it a mix of an artificial ...
... and natural jungle effect and Goan dishes like Goan sausages, Pork Sorpotel, Mutton Xacuti are a must try here. Another interesting charmer is the lobster and the versatile forms it takes on the menu – Thermidor, Butter Garlic, PiriPiri or even the Tandoori to suit every taste. This place also serves imported wine and champagnes along with popular Indian ones.

Alegria
For those of you who have decided upon the best time to visit Goa and who are willing to spend luxuriously and with good returns, this is the place to go! The interior is modeled on a traditional, aristocratic Goan house in its prime with exuberant chandeliers, baroque styled furnishings and exquisite artifacts on display. Fish Caldinho, PomfretReicheado, Pork Sorpotel should be ordered for sure and to the guests’ delight, food will be served to him/her majestically on wares from Katie and Cundlen. While you enjoy your meal in this replicated ambience of a Goan household, the outdoor doesn’t get overshadowed – for it is the vast, unlimited expanse of the Arabian Sea which greets you on the outside!

Aahar
For those of you are health freaks and are one of those irritating people who count the number of calories you take on a holiday, this restaurant in Bhakti Kutir is tailor-made for you. After a busy day at the crowded Palolem beach, you can treat yourself to very cheap and organic meals here under a big cloth draped from the neighbouring trees. Red spinach, dal with organic rice, steamed spinach with bean sprouted salad and tofu make for a sumptuous meal. The fish curry here is not very spicy and of a coconut base preferred by many! An alert for liquor lovers – you are allowed to sample tribal liquors here!

Coconut Creek Restaurant
If you want to indulge in all your sea food fantasies, Coconut Creek restaurant near Bogmalo beach is the place to head for! Situated amidst the beautiful palm-fringed Coconut Creek Resort, the diners get to eat the food while soaking in the lazy ambience of the palm trees scattered into the distance giving it the impression of being on a tropical island. Must try items include Chateaubriand and prawn delicacies amongst from a platter of other deep sea delights!

Dropadi
Located at the strategic juncture where Palolem beach meets the main road, this restaurant named after one of Indian mythology’s most memorable characters will not disappoint you! Cushioned arm chairs are spread over the sand and the ‘dish of the day’ (usually the catch of the day) is mentioned on a board – what you must try include the fresh fish cooked in a ‘hatke’ tandoori style served with naan and the special noodles and all amidst the fun and frolic on the beach!
