Board Up Portland, Oregon
As the economy remains turbulent and many fear that it has not hit rock bottom yet, many people are in jeopardy of losing their home. Portland, Oregon is no exception to the rule. They too are feeling the pinch of the economy, the loss of jobs and the unemployment rate on the rise.
In Portland's small local branch of the national community-organizing nonprofit, the acorn office is swamped with frantic calls from those in fear of losing their home. Some will be proactive, talk to the bank, seek out the help of a board up company and pack ahead of time, while others will wait to call until the day of sale, when they and all their possessions need to be out the door in 24 hours. It is a common event and one that until it happens to you cannot be imagined. Your home, your possessions (if not removed) and the place you hang your hat will be boarded up and put back on the market.
While many real estate and financial observers in the Oregon area have argued that Portland's strong economy has allowed it to fight off the worst of the foreclosure crisis, local groups such as the Acorn Group know differently. These small ...
... non profit organizations work with low-income individuals and they are noticing a rise in foreclosures in the area. For Portland's elderly and minority communities, especially, the housing situation is bleak, and many fear it will get much worse before getting any better.
While boarded up houses used to signify an abandoned house, times have changed. Although banks do their best not to board up a foreclosed house, in case of vandalism or high crime neighborhoods they must board them up to protect their investment.
Portland has many companies that board up homes for natural disaster and for foreclosures. Finding the right company can help keep your investment free from rodents, squatters and vandalism. Some of them use security as a way to keep the property safe and other use plywood to board up the areas that might be seen as a way to enter the dwelling.
In the past Portland has been a financially sound city and that very strength may well be contributing to their current fall. It's possible that during times of economic stability that they were not proactive and did not apply for needed money to protect their tax payers.
