The Mitsubishi L200 Can Carry Lots Of Luggage

Mitsubishi's L200 has ruled the double cab pick-up market for years but it now feels a bit dated. It still has lots to offer. The L200 range is split into two with the 4Work being aimed at those who use it mainly for business, and the 4Life, Warrior and Animal meant for those who need the vehicle to become a family car too. The latest Mitsubishi Animal Double Cab is very handy for people who choose a pick-up instead of a regular 4x4, because of its car-like features. The 2.5 turbodiesel with 137bhp comes fitted in the high spec 4Life and Animal models and makes better progress on the road.

The Mitsubishi L200 has started looking dated compared to the Nissan Navara and Isuzu Rodeo but still has plenty to offer. The 4Work model offers just the basics while the 4Life versions come equipped with alloy wheels and electric windows and mirrors. Warrior and Animal trims even offer CD player, air con and larger alloys. You get leather trim and DVD player for rear passengers in the range topping Animal trim. The L200 is a good ...
... performer for its type. Its primitive turbodiesel engine and high centre of gravity improve its driving behaviour at lower speeds. There is decent amount of body roll in faster corners and the 137bhp L200 engine sometimes spins out of junction in normal driving mode. The L200 is performs very well off-road too.

The L200 has a range busting load capacity as it can carry more than a tonne of luggage in its cargo area. The length for the Single Cab is 2245mm and width is 1470mm, while the Double Cab has 1500mm in length. The visibility has improved a lot thanks to its lofty driving position. You get soft leather seats and can be adjusted accordingly so that you can sit comfortably. There is lots of space in the back too. However, plastics are cheap but tough to withstand years of use misuse. The L200 is made for simple pleasures. In order to give the L200 a more car like feeling, Mitsubishi has put all sorts of gadgets into the interior of top of the range Barbarian Black. You get built in satellite navigation, electric windows and mirrors, reversing camera and illuminated kick plates.

Cargo areas are toughened, have a middle tailgate release and both inner and outer load lashing hooks. Regrettably for those who use the 4Work versions, ABS is an option on the L200. As the L200 is not equipped with a great deal of other chassis-based safety systems so make sure you take precautions in tricky conditions, especially if you are used to driving a normal car. Security of some the load area covers could also have been better with only basic locks. Central locking and engine immobiliser are standard and high-specification models come with both a driver and passenger airbag. The Mitsubishi L200 lets itself down by looking outdated and is surpassed by new arrivals. However, it still is a great work horse which also has car like abilities.
