As the economy tightens and the jobless rate is on the rise, no city is safe from the pinch of the economy and although many people have begun to cut back on expenses for some it is too late. Foreclosures are on the rise nationwide but it is being particularly felt in the Nashville area.

No one, it seems can escape completely and more and more are in jeopardy of not only losing their jobs but also in losing their home. Even those living in affluent neighborhoods in upper priced houses are being foreclosed on. Although in Nashville the unemployment rate has been steady the foreclosure rate is on the rise. It seems people spend just above their means in every tax bracket so therefore larger homes are being foreclosed on and more often.

Foreclosures increased 72% in the first quarter of last year ranking it number thirteen in the country for foreclosures. What used to happen to old, dilapidated houses is now beginning to happen to even the priciest homes in Nashville. Once a home is foreclosed on it is literally boarded up until it is sold. This alone can drive down the property value in the neighborhood leaving ...
... those that still there in a state of disappointment and worry.

With recent data just released it shows that over 51,000 people living in Tennessee alone have been foreclosed on. To add insult to injury, experts do not think this is the end. In fact, the end may not even be in sight. As the economy continues to drop, and business close forcing long time employees into early retirement or unemployment, it seems many more people will lose their homes before the recession actually hits the bottom. Although there are foreclosure prevention programs in place they have not shown that they are actually helping and more and more people will be boarding up their homes as this trend continues.

If you are in danger of losing your home it is always recommended that you consult with your bank and an attorney specializing in foreclosures. Being proactive can be the difference in finding a solution that will allow you to keep your house or boarding it up and moving out.

When seeking out the advice of an attorney always check references and get a signed contract up front. Several organizations exist in the Nashville area that allows people to check their attorney's background before they sign anything.
