As soon as search engine web marketing was introduced there have been a couple of opposing forces opposing for undisputed control. Black-hat & white-hat.

Black-hat marketing is basically sneaky marketing & manipulation of technology to encourage websites including products without a thorough presentation to the consumers. White-hat advertising consists of marketing of web pages, products & services using techniques which are not criticized on by the consumer.

Email spam, junk mail, keyword stuffing & forum posting spamming are the tools of the black-hat marketer. The white-hat marketer relies on good interaction with his potential & existing customers to foster a long term mutually beneficial relationship.

The tools for the white-hat marketers are more obscure than the obvious in your face tactics of the black-hat marketer. But they are much more effective in the long run.

Black-hat techniques work with a shot gun mentality, "You bound to hit something if you use a shot gun in a dense population". That does work with the short term profit but it becomes unsustainable as your conversion ...
... diminishes because more & more people become weary of hearing from you.

That shot gun approach has survived only because the internet is growing at a phenomenal rate & new customers sign up to make their lives easier every day.

It is believed|I believe} that white-hat way is harder to stick to but ultimately| brings steady flow of customer orders & re-orders. Black-hat experts always agree on one thing about black-hat techniques, "Never gestate the same person to order twice."

Knowing what I said above it is sure that white-hat is the finest way to building a successful & durable web marketing campaign. It has its disfavors in that establishing trust consumes time, & that's why I recommend that you commence slowly, build your reputation & brand employing free marketing techniques such as article writing, consistency, integrity & excellent customer desk service.
